Light and mist magically combine to create an other-worldly landscape, looking north from Mount Tamalpais.  This warm spring evening had no wind at all, allowing the marine layer to slowly drift in and settle in the valleys of the Marin Headlands, with Bon Tempe Lake and the Meadow Club golf course visible to the left.

The sinking sun along the Big Sur shore casts a glow on the Santa Lucia mountains and bathes the storm clouds and the ocean in shades of pink and purple.  This is my favorite spot along the middle stretches of Highway 1, with McWay Falls hidden in one of the coves just below to the left.  You're high on a cliffside above the water, and the overwhelming peace of this place restores me each time I visit.

A springtime trip to the Botanical Garden at Golden Gate Park showed these purple beauties in full bloom.  The final image is a focus-stacked composite of 7 different photos and came out better than I hoped.  The tones of the purple against the dark, muted greens project a deep, proud serenity.
